‘God Of War’ Finally Gets A Release Date, Kratos | United Kingdom – London, PlayStation 4 The 2018 God of War reboot has finally gotten a release date. Players can take on the role of Kratos in his new Norse digs on April 20th.
Along with the release date announcement, Sony has released a new, and perhaps somewhat spoilery, story trailer. If you don’t want potential story spoilers, I’d skip this one.
The game looks absolutely gorgeous. It looks epic in all the right ways. A beautiful art style, lots of magic and mythology, and a God of War who seems to have calmed down somewhat only to, one imagines, eventually lose his temper.
I love the moment when the boy asks Kratos, “Can you kill something that big?” and Kratos almost smirks in response.,The 2018 God of War reboot has finally gotten a release date. Players can take on the role of Kratos in his new Norse digs on April 20th., God of War, PlayStation 4, Kratos
While I’m still worried that the chatter between Kratos and the boy will be irritating, I can’t help but look forward to this radical redesign of the long-running action series. As a franchise, God of War certainly had a distinct style that this game has done away with almost entirely, ditching the fixed camera and the over-the-top gore in favor of a more story-driven game with a free camera. That might upset some hardcore fans, but I think any game series that’s run this long should at the very least try new things. Maybe it won’t work, maybe it will. Either way, it’s a stunning looking game. Hopefully the gameplay is as good as that trailer is pretty.
We’ll know on April 20th, a rather auspicious day that’s both a stoner holiday and Hitler’s birthday.
